My Random 7
1- You've probably already figured it out but I love cooking. I can't wait for the day that our little guy tells me exactly what he wants me to make for him.

2- When I was a kid I used to make up rollerskating routines to Madonna's True Blue album in my family garage. I especially loved "Where's The Party". That was the routine I practiced most often. My nerdiness knows no bounds! :)

3- Christmas is my favourite holiday. I turn to total mush.

4- When I was young I had a surgery and when I first woke up from it I really wanted potatoes. Apparently I was talking to my sister about "pillowy mounds of mashed po-tay-toes". We still get a good laugh remembering that! (Ring a bell?)

5- My first car was a burgundy Chevrolet Corsica. I loved the car and still managed to blow the engine...twice. Sorry Dad!

6- Our family will probably always have at least one dog. Dogs rule.

7- M and I are celebrating our four year wedding anniversary on the 16th. Its gone by so quickly. I'm a lucky gal.

He smells change in the air. He is going to be an awesome bff for our boy!

Painting on the mantle says "my son". We've been having a lot of fun pushin' the paint lately. Canvas, yes. Walls, not so much. ;)

Is there anything better than baby clothes?! I had to include close ups of his new outfits. Too cute!

Chalkboard wall! The first project is for DH to draw the city scape of our little dude's birth city. I'm excited to see how it turns out.


The plan was to try for a really cozy, relaxed feel in here. We'll see though. I seem to be drawn to the items with bright pops of colour these days. Kid's stuff is so fun! I've been missing out!

Awesome Friends

On Sunday I met some long time friends for brunch. Like they say, no matter how much time has passed we can pick up right where we left off. Good times. Great friends.

They surprised me with baby presents and we had a mini impromptu baby shower just the four of us. It rocked.

"You have a son"....the best words we've ever heard.

Last week M and I went to Montreal on our babymoon and what will now go down in history as the second (I have a feeling Korea will take the top spot!) best trip ever!

We went to a museum the first day and then just hung out Thursday night having dinner in the hotel and turning in early. Friday we woke up and had breakfast and then started our day with a walk around Old Montreal. Later that morning we ended up in front of Notre Dame Basilica and went inside. If you ever find yourself in Montreal it is totally worth a visit. It really is something. While we were there I lit a candle and said a short prayer. We can all imagine what that prayer entailed. Here's where it gets interesting...

We stepped out of the church and I hear an email hit my inbox. It read...

I've tried calling you but it goes straight to VM. Pls. contact the agency.

Of course we immediately called our PM and got her voicemail. On our way back to the hotel we agreed that if she hadn't called us back by the time we reached the hotel we would call again. That's what we did.

It all went so fast...but in slow motion too. I couldn't breathe in fear of missing anything she said and I wasn't saying anything I thought I would. In fact, I don't know that I said anything really coherent. I remember frantically scribbling out details and then the next thing we knew we were in our hotel room watching the slowest progress bar ever in the history of the world crawl across our computer screen.

Then we saw him.

Guys....no words.

You were all absolutely right. I get it now. It was worth every tear, every fear, every worry. All the little pieces were coming together in perfect timing. The classes, the wait lists, then the waits, the trip, the church, all of it, the best recipe we've followed all year and its just the beginning! Crazy. The first words M said after seeing the referral pictures for the first time were "That's my son." In the most certain of tones. In total awe. He couldn't of said it better. We are parents. M's a dad! I'm a mom! I am a mother. Haha! ;) Amazing.

22 weeks! (Off Topic)

Good week. We got out of town and headed into cottage country for my sister's wedding and had a fabulous time. She looked so beautiful & I couldn't even put it into words if I tried. I'll post some pics as soon as we get them! Above is M and I catching up. One of a few photos my cousin posted to her facebook that I was able to snatch up. Isn't it funny how you can be away together but still have moments of "Oh hi! How are you?"

On Friday my sister and I spent the day alone at the spa getting pampered for four hours straight! She planned every detail including celebratory champagne with our treatments. The wedding was Saturday and then Sunday we met for breakfast before we all went our separate ways. Just perfect. Everyone had a great weekend, made some new friends, spent time with old ones, laughed with family, enjoyed great weather...it was amazing.

Cleaning House

You may have noticed that I've been trying out a couple new widgets here on the blog. Is that what they are called? Widgets? Anyway, it was without success & we are back to baby blog basics!

P.S. I think the Hubby has started nesting too! Could it be called that yet? As I type he is throwing articles of clothing out of the closet..."Goodwill! Goooooodwill!"

21 Weeks!

The newsletter hasn't hit my inbox yet but I'll update if it tells anything we don't already know. I spent the day completely overhauling the house. Cleaning top to bottom and then re-arranging the furniture in the dining room and living room. Felt good. It was starting feel like all the little jobs around the house were falling into "wait mode" too and I had to shake it up.

Sushi for dinner! I'm apparently going to eat my way through this wait.

"If You Build It..."

I'm going to change it up a bit. Several weeks ago I decided that perhaps I was jinxing myself by working on the nursery before we had received a referral so I stopped half way through painting, taping, the whole bit. Since that isn't working I decided to take the "If you build it they will come" approach. I'm back at it!

Worst. Painter. Ever.

P.S. Tomorrow is newsletter day but I already know there has been at least one referral in the last couple weeks. A super nice family we've met a few times is in the process of adopting their second bambino from Korea just posted the good news on FB this week. Another boy! He is beyond gorgeous and so smiley!

메로나 spells delicious. Well, actually its Hangul for "Melona" which are melon flavoured creamsicle like ice bar treats AND they are delicious!

We're lucky enough to have a pretty big Asian market near our home and yesterday I dedicated some time to really getting to know its in's and outs. As it turns out they also carry a ton of other international foods and even have aisles dedicated to foods of Ecuador, Africa, Jamaica, Peru, and a ton of others! We used to live in a big city that had a Koreatown, a huge Chinatown, Greektown, a little India, & more. One of my favourite things ever was to spend the day with my ipod strolling store to store exploring all the amazing foods and other finds these areas had to offer. Since we've moved to the burbs I've been really missing my little exploration days so when I found this market it felt as if the food heavens opened up and dropped a little piece of culinary awesomeness.

While I was in the final aisle (frozen foods) there was a clerk walking by so I took a chance and asked him to show me a favourite Korean treat and he immediately pulled out a box of "Melona". It was love at first bite and I'm not even a huge melon fan. I think its the smooth, creamy texture that really gets me!

I'm now on the hunt for the lime, mango, and banana flavours! If you see them in your friendly market, grab 'em!

I can't wait to watch one melt down the chubby arm of our little one. Summer on a stick!

Oh my gosh, I've been trying to hold out because I'm making ice cream this afternoon but now I've got to have one!
